Good news and bad news
February Daily Blogging - Day 23

The good news is that my computer is up and running and the case is beautiful and I’m very happy with it.
The bad news is that there are some issues.
- The front LED lights don’t work. Since taking the picture above we’ve managed to get one of the lights working, but since they’re linked together they should all be working. I haven’t given up hope, but K thinks we need to replace the case (😭)
- Because of the way the hard drives are positioned, we didn’t have the right SATA cables so not all of my hard drives are plugged in
- We took the opportunity to update the BIOS and that broke a bunch of stuff that I’m currently trying to fix
- The CPU fan is now making a very loud, unpleasant noise that may or may not have already been there but wasn’t as audible in the previous case. It’s somehow much worse than the previous annoying sound that led us down this case-changing journey. Noise-cancelling headphones to the rescue
The IT department manager now recommends getting new CPU cooling. She also wants to steal my power supply – for the NAS? the server? Her computer? She told me but sometimes I get computer words confused.
“Does it come in white?” I wondered, asking only the most technical of questions.
“Yes,” she replied.
"Okay, then you can take my power supply."
Accidentally going to end up with a brand new computer by the end of all this. The IT department is very thorough.
