Cinnamon Coffee
Spent several minutes creating a script in Obsidian that would prompt me for a title whenever I triggered the new blog post template. I kept using “Cinnamon Coffee” as the test title so here we are.
Speaking of which, this morning I remembered to add cinnamon to my coffee. This feels like important information I should share.
Since last we spoke:
- I went to the doctor and I’m feeling better – not great but better
- I’ve been trying to go for a walk every day (weather permitting) and get some sun
- I watched the following on Netflix:
- Amy Bradley is Missing
- Untamed
- Brick
- Attempted to stream World of Warcraft on Discord but my video card said no, which means my life as a professional WoW streamer will have to wait until I upgrade
- Played around with CSS and gave both my main site and my notes site a makeover
- Updated my automation workflow to send my “highlights” feed to micro.blog instead of Notion, so now you can read both on the “notes” page (each with its own color code)
- Pinkish = my own personal notes
- Greyish = highlights from things I read (should it be yellowish? hmm)
- Added an RSS page so you can get the feeds to the different content sections
- Speaking of which, I really love that micro.blog gives me an RSS feed for each category individually
Something else I did: I installed the Todoist plug-in in Obsidian and it’s so convenient. I’ve been using Todoist less as a “to do” app and more of a “don’t forget to” app especially for stuff I think of in bed. Problem was that I wasn’t actually checking Todoist so I just had lists of things I was supposed to remember that I still kept forgetting.
So, I created a note in Obsidian, pasted in the code from the plugin, dragged the note to the sidebar, and voilà. I can add/check off anything right there without going to Todoist. Case in point, I just remembered I need to order more wool balls for the dryer – oh! and toothpaste – so I added it without having to switch contexts. Life-changing.
Anyway, now that I’m starting to feel better (knock on wood), I can finally get back to my fiction. I’m excited to return to the fun task of world building and working on Project:Midnight. And of course, finishing my TBSOL edits.
Recently I learned that August is known around the IndieWeb as “Blaugust” – which is not the sexiest name, but gets the point across. Blaugust is the blogging equivalent of NaNoWriMo (RIP) where bloggers from around the globe vow to post regularly during the month of August.
The goal is to stoke the fires of creativity and allow bloggers and other content creators to mingle in a shared community while pushing each other to post more regularly. Above all the goal of Blaugust has always been to prove to folks that they can in fact sit down every day and create something fresh and then share it with the world.
If you’re interested you can sign up. You can also check out the media kit with all relevant info/links.
I haven’t made up my mind whether I want to “officially” participate but I’d already semi-decided I wanted to do another blogging challenge in August so we’ll see.
Anyhoo, I’ve sat here long enough trying to figure out what I wanted to say next which is a good sign that I should end this. So on that note, I’m off to boil some eggs.
